Nino Burjanadze on the arrival of ‘Night Wolves’ in Vake Park – I believe that many people have read ‘Stumar-Maspindzeli’ in Georgia.
“It is inappropriate for a Georgian to meet a person who comes to your country to pay respects to those outstanding 300,000 Georgian heroes who died during the World War II, with provocative questions and protest.” In this context, Burjanadze reminisced ‘Stumar-Maspindzeli’ and noted that one should respect the foreign guest. “In Georgia, to my belief, many people have read ‘Stumar-Maspindzeli’. If we do not want to abandon the legacy of our ancestors and throw away our identity, then we should not forget that guests must be respected. It is inappropriate for a Georgian to meet a person who comes to our country to pay respects to those outstanding 300,000 Georgian heroes who died during the World War II, with provocative questions and protest. This is the case when even the most sensitive political affair should set aside and people should unite in respect to those who have sacrificed their lives. It is a pity that today, we have the reality when basic Georgian values are threatened.”

According to her, if these people have broken law, it should be dealt by appropriate institutions charged with preserving the rule of law.

Journalists also asked a question concerning the visit of ex-Mayor of Moscow, Yurii Luzhkov to Georgia. They were interested in Burjanadze’s evaluation whether the ‘Law on Occupation’ was violated on which Burjanadze stated: “I cannot give you an answer, please refer to the Department of Border Police of Georgia.”
